SFGA 2023 Conference and AGM

On January 17,2023, Sask. Fruit Growers Association and Sask. Vegetable Growers Association held their annual conference in the morning with two speakers, followed by lunch and networking, and then separate AGM’s in the afternoon.  The conference was held at the Sask. Food Industry Development Centre (The Food Centre) in Saskatoon.  Our speakers were as follows:

  1. Charles Sudom – Presentation – A Market Garden Roadmap

Charles spoke on Production (water quantity and quality; soils, climate, enhancements, equipment and tools, garden enemies, labour); Marketing (finding markets for Direct sales, Bulk sales,          and Other options); and Succession Planning (Next generation for selling and dissolving).

  1. Biosecurity workshop – Facilitator, Doug Waterer

A shortened version of the Biosecurity workshop (normally a 3 hour workshop) was presented by Doug.
